McMinnville, Ore. — May 3, 2021 — The Springs at Lake Oswego, a senior living community operated by The Springs Living, has received the Award of Merit, the top award out of 53 submissions to the 2021 Environments For Aging (EFA) Design Showcase. The award program is conducted by Environments For Aging Magazine, a national architecture trade publication.
“The Springs at Lake Oswego is a visual representation of our mission to change the way people think, feel, and experience senior living,” said Fee Stubblefield, founder and CEO of The Springs Living. “We design our communities to create environments where people want to be – where people can’t wait to get old enough to move in.”
The Springs at Lake Oswego, which is located at 3900 Kruse Way Place in Lake Oswego, Oregon, opened in January 2020. The senior community features the latest in innovative independent living, while also offering support through assisted living and memory care services. The multi-level landscaped courtyards, sustainable rooftop terrace, and Northwest-inspired interior design bring the outside into this unique community, setting the tone for creating a warm, comfortable, and safe environment with exceptional service.
The community features a full range of innovative amenities designed to encourage social interaction, including a rooftop wine bar, bocce ball court, and putting green, along with open-plan dining areas, a movie theater, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness and wellness center that includes a spa and massage area.
To provide efficiencies for operations and staff, foster resident interaction, and embrace the various levels of care throughout the building, the project utilizes a central hub concept which provides an easily accessible place where residents can access a variety of amenities, connect with each other, and participate in a variety of activities. Additionally, the central hub concentrates staff, which enables them to better engage with, care for, and improve the well-being of residents.
LRS Architects, based in Portland, Oregon, designed The Springs at Lake Oswego. The firm submitted the project for the 25th annual showcase held earlier this year. The community will also be recognized in the spring issue of EFA Magazine and at the 2021 EFA Expo & Conference this August in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The EFA Design Showcase recognizes architecture and interior design projects that demonstrate outstanding innovative design solutions in new or renovated senior care environments across the nation. The awards for the annual showcase were determined by a jury representing The Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), The Center for Health Design, the International Interior Design Association, and the American Society of Interior Designers.
